Warsaw University of Technology best in New Europe countries

The Warsaw University of Technology is the best university in the European Ranking of Engineering Programs (EngiRank) in the countries of New Europe. The AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków takes second place, followed by the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague, the organizer of the ranking Perspektywy Education Foundation announced.

The pilot edition of the ranking is based on indicators important for engineering education. It includes higher education institutions and engineering programs in 13 countries of the so-called New Europe, countries that joined the European Union in or after 2004.

According to EngiRank, the best university among the 81 classified institutions in the countries of the New Europe is the Warsaw University of Technology. The AGH University of Science and Technology is second, followed by the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague. In the top 20, apart from Polish (9 total) and Czech (3 total) institutions, there are also universities from Cyprus (2), Slovakia (2), Hungary, Slovenia, Estonia and Romania.

The winners in the rankings by subject are: Peter Pozmany Catholic University, Hungary (Chemical Engineering), Silesian University of Technology, Poland (Civil Engineering), University of Cyprus (Electrical, Electronic & Information Engineering), AGH University of Science and Technology, Poland (Environmental Engineering), Semmelweis University, Hungary (Materials Engineering), University of Pannonia, Hungary (Mechanical Engineering) and Warsaw University of Technology, Poland (Medical Engineering).
