Poland Keeps Progressing in the Field of Robotics
Young scientists from Wrocław University of Science and Technology have developed an autonomous walking robot. The main task of the machine is to transport cargo.
The robot that transports parcels and goods is designed to handle even difficult terrain, such as rocky or sandy ground. Also, it can go up and down the stairs. The crab is 1.5 meters long and 80 centimeters tall. It weighs approximately 100 kilograms. It is very stable, which results from its specific construction. Even damaging a crab's leg will not stop it, it will only slow down or worsen its walking.
Young scientists from the Faculty of Mechanics of the Wrocław University of Technology began working on the Krab in July 2018. For now, the first robot model is ready, in which various technologies have been tested. At the moment, a second model is being developed to function as a prototype.
It is worth mentioning that this year twelve PhD students of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology received funding from different scientific foundations in the disciplines of automation, electronics and electrical engineering, as well as IT and telecommunications. Grants were also awarded to eight projects in mechanical engineering, seven in management and quality sciences, five in environmental engineering, mining and energy, four in physical sciences and chemical engineering, and two in mathematics, chemical sciences, civil engineering, and transport.
Robotics in Poland
In 2018, the total number of robots in Poland reached 13,600 ranking Poland as the 16th most dense robotics country in the world, as published by the International Federation of Robotics. Moreover, Poland's potential for increased robotics growth is high. Today this market has reached record growth and represents excellent professional opportunities. Currently, more than 30% of Polish companies in the manufacturing sector are planning to implement robots in the next three years. We have already observed increased use of robots within Polish manufacturing facilities, and the country has never been more ready for the robotics revolution.
Robotics degrees in Poland are highly interdisciplinary studies that focus on the operations and mechanics of robots. It could provide you with a solid education that will thoroughly prepare you for work in the most advanced robotics markets of the world, at the same time stimulating your own personal development.
