Nearly 7 million PLN for the development and modification of educational programs
Gdańsk University of Technology received funding for the development and modification of educational programs for key sectors of the domestic industry under the European Funds for Social Development 2021-2027 (FERS) program.
Gdańsk Tech received the grant as one of 23 applicants. As part of the implementation of the Studio 5.0 project, five fields of second-cycle studies at five faculties of the university will be modified:
Faculty of Chemistry – field of study: chemical technology; specialization: renewable energy technologies,
Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics – field of study: space and satellite technologies; specializations: information and telecommunications technologies in space and satellite engineering and engineering and management of space system,
Faculty of Applied Physics and Mathematics – field of study: materials engineering; specialization: engineering of functional materials for renewable energy,
Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering – field of study: transport; specializations: planning and management of the transport system, intelligent transport systems, rail transport infrastructure,
Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology – field of study: energy; specializations: advanced energy technologies and nuclear energy,
A total of 2,390 hours of education will be modified and adapted for the purposes of education for key sectors of the domestic industry. A total of 61 academic teachers will work on creating new content. The project will also include: classes conducted by practitioners, study visits, supplementation or modification of the laboratory base.
An important part of the project will be the development of competences of teachers involved in the implementation of the educational process in modified fields of study. Training for teaching staff will focus on digital competences, green transformation and universal design.
The activities planned within the project are a continuation of the priority directions of development of Gdańsk Tech. It is also a response to the requirements of the changing socio-economic environment – of the transformations related to the implementation of sustainable development and to digital transformation - as well as to the vision of the future of European industry defined by the European Commission as "Industry 5.0". Some of its assumptions are: human-centric, including education, training and upgrading qualifications, as one of the most urgent issues to adapt to digital transformation, and sustainable development and resilience, including carrying out reforms and investing in ecological and digital priorities.
The project will be implemented from January this year. until October 2026. The project manager is prof. Mariusz Kaczmarek, vice-rector for education. The value of the project is PLN 6,984,910.55, including the subsidy amount of PLN 6,773,495.55.
The application for funding was prepared by employees of the Center for Strategic Analysis in cooperation with selected university faculties.
